What's new in v1.4 hardware? (2020)
There are a very modest set of changes in the v1.4 revision of the DE1.
- We will now be using the DE1XL tablet stand on all models. No more “Steelie stand”. If you prefer the Steelie Stand, you can choose to use it by buying it from us (we have black versions) and indicating that you want us to not glue the tablet to your stand. The suitcase foam will be cut to allow either kind of stand to be used. Note that this new tablet stand is currently an option you can buy from the Decent store to retrofit older machines.
- The v1.4 machine will be USD$200 more expensive than v1.3. COVID has caused virtually all our costs to increase.
- We do have a lot of improvements planned for software, in the field of the tablet app, firmware, and cloud services, and these will be available to all Decent owners, for free.
