Finally: redesigned coffee cart wheel brackets

Last July, for Decent's trade show stand at SCA's “World Of Coffee” Milano, I built 3 coffee carts from IKEA BROR, using Decent Espresso's coffee cart kit https://decentespresso.com/coffeecart

None the wheels survived the trip. All were bent by running the carts over uneven concrete, fully loaded with machines and water.

I have posted extensively about all we learned from this real world use https://www.instagram.com/p/CgKMAE2s-yk/

Nine months and three design iterations later, we finally have  our new design, which has survived our ultimate heavy load test: 5 full water containers on the cart, pushed harshly for ten minutes over uneven outdoor pavement.

The new wheel bracket now:

  1. holds onto the wheel with a solid steel piece, that has been bored out with threads
  2. the solid piece is continuously welded into the corner of a steel bracket
  3. there are four bolt holes to attach to the cart
  4. and two additional 90º bends in the bracket
  5. stainless steel, instead of aluminum

These are made to work with IKEA's BROR workbench https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/bror-work-bench-black-pine-plywood-30333286/ to make a fairly-heavy duty coffee cart, at a very low price.

We make computer-routed replacement tops for the IKEA cart, that fit all the Decent-provided parts you need to make your coffee cart.

More info about our coffee cart kit, as well as a link to these new brackets (bottom of the page) at: https://decentespresso.com/coffeecart

Note that the price of these brackets did increase to $13/each, as we had to switch from aluminum to steel, and continuous welding, which 4xed the cost for us to make these.  We don't make any money on these (and certainly will never recoup our R&D!) but we do make money selling espresso machines, and hope that our continued investment in our coffee cart design, will continue to make them an interesting choice for people.
