Decent shower screens

At Decent, challenges inspire us to innovate. We observed that traditional shower screens — including IMS screen on DE1 — didn't get optimal water distribution at low-flow rates. Time to investigate.

Our team ran extensive tests and discovered that standard shower screens don't saturate the outer edges of the puck as much as the center, creating uneven water distribution.

With this new insight, we developed the Dimples and Freckles shower screens, which extend around the perimeter of the portafilter to ensure every part of your puck gets even water distribution. With our new technology, the water spreads more uniformly compared to the IMS screens at low flow rates (4ml/s and below). At higher flow rates, the distribution remains stable, without forming jets or channels that concentrate in one area.

For DE1 v1.1 or newer owners, we have included a spare screw with the purchase. If you're a DE1 v1.0 owner and you're replacing the default IMS screen, you can use the screw already in the machine. You can also use the spare screw, but you will need a Torx screwdriver.

Dimples Shower Screen

Decent's own design for even flowing water. If you follow a rigorous cleaning routine and flush and wipe the machine after every shot, consider the Dimples shower screen. We also recommend this screen for making filter coffee. Dimples features 7-hole clusters spread across the surface, reaching 420 holes in total. It's designed to deliver optimal distribution under ideal conditions.

Freckles Shower Screen

Decent's own design for even flowing water. If you make coffee in a busy environment and you don't have time to flush after every shot or wipe the screen with a cloth, try Decent's Freckles shower screen. Freckles features 1,000 very densely placed holes to compensate for potential clogging that might occur with less-frequent cleaning.

IMS CI200IM shower screen

This is the default shower screen that comes standard with our DE1 v1.0-v1.45 espresso machines. If you need a replacement, order it here. This default screen allows enough space for the coffee puck to swell and bloom during preinfusion. Your order includes the IMS CI200IM shower screen and a spare mounting screw for DE1 v1.1 or newer machines. If you're a DE1 v1.0 owner, use the screw already in your machine. You can also use the spare screw, but you will need a Torx screwdriver.
