This guide walks you through updating the Teclast M50Mini tablet (shipped with newer DE1 machines) to firmware v1.06_20260311. The update is delivered over Wi-Fi ("OTA") by Teclast and tightens system permissions that were previously flagged as suspicious by some antivirus tools.
Note: These instructions apply only to the M50Mini (project code m5n7, tablet model TLA016). Older DE1 tablets (e.g. P85Pro, P80X, and earlier models) use different firmware and are not covered here.
1. Check which tablet you have
1. On the tablet, open Settings.
2. Go to System → About tablet (depending on Android launcher, it may be About tablet directly at the root of Settings).
3. Look at the Model and Build number entries.
You have the M50Mini if any of the following is true:
The model is TLA016.
The build/firmware shows V1.05_20241211 (or any M50Mini / m5n7 string).
The machine was shipped with DE1 app v1.46 or later.
If your tablet reports a different model (e.g. P85Pro, P80X, or any earlier Teclast tablet), do not follow this guide — those tablets use different firmware packages.
2. Find the "System Update" app
On the home screen, swipe up to open the app drawer. Locate the System Update app — it has a blue-and-purple icon with a white up-arrow.

Tap it to open. You should see the current version and a large orange CHECK UPDATE button.

3. (Optional but recommended) Back up your DE1 app folder
If you want to keep your profiles, shot history, and settings safe before the update, copy the DE1 app's data folder to your PC or Mac first.
1. Connect the tablet to a computer with a USB cable (accept any "Allow file transfer" / MTP prompt on the tablet).
2. On the computer, open the tablet's internal storage.
3. Locate the de1plus folder (top level of internal storage) and copy it somewhere safe.
If anything goes wrong during the update, you can restore your setup by copying the de1plus folder back to the same location after reinstalling the DE1 app from decentespresso.com/downloads.
A full OTA update should not touch your DE1 app data, but a backup is cheap insurance.
4. Perform the update over Wi-Fi
1. Connect the tablet to Wi-Fi.
2. Make sure the battery is at least 30% charged (or keep it plugged in).
3. Open the System Update app.
4. Tap CHECK UPDATE.

5. When a new version is found, a dialog shows:
New Version: V1.06_20260311
Update Package Size: ~94 MB
An update log
Tap the Update now button to start the download.

> If the download bar doesn't move: the Teclast update server can occasionally be busy. Either switch to a different Wi-Fi network or try again later — several users have reported that retrying on a different network (or the next morning) completed the download in a couple of minutes.
6. Once the download finishes, the tablet reboots into recovery mode and applies the update automatically. Do not touch the tablet during this stage.

7. When the update is complete, the tablet restarts back into Android.

5. Final check
1. Open the System Update app again.
2. Confirm the Current version now reads V1.06_20260311.

3. Launch the DE1 app and verify your profiles and history are intact. If you took a backup in step 3 and something is missing, copy the de1plus folder back from your computer.
That's it — the tablet is on the latest Teclast firmware.
Troubleshooting
"CHECK UPDATE" says the system is up to date, but I'm still on V1.05. Teclast gates this update per-tablet. If your tablet was bought very recently and isn't yet in their allow-list, post in the Decent Diaspora thread and someone from Decent can forward your serial number to Teclast.
How do I find my tablet's serial number / IMEI? Open the System Update app and tap the words "System Update" (the title under the icon) 5 or more times quickly. A dialog will show IMEI (or SN for Serial number), Version, and Project fields.

Download stalls at 0% or creeps slowly: try a different Wi-Fi network, or retry later (the Teclast server is occasionally overloaded).
Tablet won't boot after the update: contact our support — this has not been reported on the M50Mini update so far, but support will replace a bricked tablet.
