Integrated weighing with the Half Decent Scale

The first batch of Beta units of our upcoming Half Decent Scale have been received, and we're already seeing the results from our open-source approach.

Damian in Australia made a replacement drip tray cover, which wraps around the DE1 drip tray, with the scale sitting on the table. The advantage of this approach is that you can flush your group head and not wet the scale. It also works with plumbed drip trays. And, it works with the scale plugged into USBC power. This will be a STL file that anyone can 3D print.

Working with Euan in New Zealand, we've thickened the rubber feet to 3mm, which serve to anchor the scale at the proper place in his drip tray design. This is also 3D printable, or you can buy a very nice metal, painted replacement tray from Euan directly.

These rubber feet are shown in the CAD model, and thus can be used by anyone who wants to invent something that needs our scale to be precisely positioned.

As a reminder, everything on this scale is open source: the CAD plans, the PC boards, the firmware and the apps. And because it's totally compatible with the six years of previous Decent Scales, many apps (some free!) already work with this new model: Beanconquerer | Act Four | Filtru | Espresso Log | Smart Espresso Profiler | Pressensor | PyDecentScale.

We're expecting to have mass availability of this scale at the end of March. The price is USD$140 and it will be available at https://decentespresso.com/decentscale
