Quick Guide to Streamline Skin

The Streamline Skin, designed by Pulak and programmed by John, was inspired by Johanna's MimojaCafe.

The goal is "one tap to do everything you normally need to".  Simplicity and speed.  Though it might look minimalist, it took 14 months for Pulak and John to complete this: simplicity is difficult!

HOW TO INSTALL

Streamline Skin is available in a Light and Dark Mode.  To try it out, go to Settings->App->Skins :

Available skin choicesHere is what the two variations look like:

The normal mode data lineSince the Zoomed mode does away with the left-hand-side controls, the data line in Zoomed mode has two lines, to show you the vitals you've now hidden:

EDITING YOUR GRIND, DOSE, DRINK AND EXTRACTION RATIO

    Grind, dose, drink

  • The Grind and Dose settings are informational only, and not stored in the profile.  DYE (Describe Your Espresso) has a workflow feature which cleanly organizes everything about making a specific drink, and these will echo what you have selected in DYE.
  • The Drink setting specifies how much espresso you want in your cup.  The ratio of Dose:Drink is calculated for you.
  • You can single tap any of the light-grey colored presets.
  • To save your settings as a preset, long-tap the preset you want to save it to.  An animation will occur when you succeed.

  • Everywhere in Streamline, you can tap on a number:

    EDITING YOUR BREW TEMPERATURE

You can +/-, or enter a temperature, for your espresso brew temperature. Every step will be adjusted to the relative change.  For example, if your espresso starts at 92ºC and then drops to 88ºC, and you change the temperature to 90ºC, then the ending temperature will be reduced by -2ºC.

Editing the temperatureTap a preset temperature to load it, or long tap on a preset temperature to save your current temperature to that preset.

    EDITING STEAM TIME AND FLOW

A steam time of zero will turn the steam heater off, to lower your electrical consumption and speed up the time-from-off-to-ready.

Editing the steam timesSensible steam flow rates are given in the presets:

    EDITING FLUSH AND HOT WATER

You can set the flush time, hot water temperature and water volume dispensed.  If you have a bluetooth scale attached, it is used to give you a precise water volume.
